Instead, the hitter pushes first off the instep with heel on the ground, and then rolls up onto the toe as the hips turn/leg pushes, and as it loses touch with the ground/unweights due to strong transfer against a bracing front leg. No part of the back foot goes backward (in squish the bug, the heel actually gets closer to the catcher). This causes back leg hitting, using the que "stay back" incorrectly. which leads to the ugly, very hard to move forward into a braced front leg with any energy if your heel/weight are staying in place, or going backwards while you "spin". ![]() watch the back foot, ankle, lower leg, upper leg, and hips in elite hitters, not close to squishing the bug. ![]()
